Mompreneur Grant

Vision

Moms in Business Unite will award a grant to a mom business owner with an innovative business idea who’s in need of capital to take her business to the next level. We have ambitious goals to support mom business owners who yearn to be independent income earners while caring for their families. The winner will be announced at the Moms in Business Unite Conference reception in San Diego.

Candidates

Are you a successful mom business owner looking to expand your business? Are you finding it hard to obtain business capital in the current economic climate? If you meet the following criteria, please apply for the MIBU Mompreneur Grant:

You must be a mom with a majority-owned share in a small business.
Your business must offer an innovative service or product that differentiates you from your competitors.
You must demonstrate a specific expansion need.
You must have owned and operated your business for at least 1 year.
You must have a clear growth plan indicating how the grant will be utilized.
You must be registered to attend the Moms in Business Unite Conference in San Diego.

Rules

Only one submission will be accepted per person.
Submissions will only be accepted from mom-owned businesses (no husband and wife co-ownership).
Applicant must live within a 250 mile radius of San Diego.
Former MIBU Mompreneur award recipients are not eligible.
Submission deadline: June 30, 2011. Late submissions will not be considered.

Submission Questions

Please be ready to answer the following questions with specific answers and examples:

1.    Please provide a company overview
2.    How long have you been in business?
3.    What is your plan to grow your business?
4.    What makes your business unique?
5.    If you won this grant, where "specifically" would you apply the funds?
6.    Why do you believe you should be considered for the 2011 Mompreneur Grant?
7.    How many children do you have? (Please respond with ages and gender.)
8.    How did you hear about the MIBU Mompreneur Grant opportunity?

Winner

One winner will be selected for each city by a panel of judges and announced at the Moms in Business Unite Conference. The recipient will be presented with a check during the conference reception.
