Winners – 2010 MIBU Inventor Showcase Award

There were many great new inventors at the 2010 conference, and there was a tie for the winner!

Lisa Singer, Gardens to Gro

As busy working parents, Lisa and her husband, Steve, dreamed of their own vegetable garden, but found it was the project they never had time for. The vegetable garden their gardener built for them was unattractive and didn't work - the bunnies ate everything before they had a chance to enjoy any of it themselves! The pair decided to start over and build an attractive garden that would keep the bunnies out. After building the original Gardens To Gro garden, a light bulb went on for Lisa. She thought, "wouldn't it have been nice if we could have simply ordered a pre-fabricated garden to be delivered?" The concept for the ready-made garden was born. Gardens To Gro has been helping busy people all over the country enjoy well-built vegetable gardens - and fresh vegetables!

Kristy Nardini, Tazzini

The Mompreneur Grant was created by MIBU to award a cash prize to a mom business owner with an innovative business idea who’s in need of capital to take her business to the next level. The Mom's Guide to San Diego is the source for all mommies looking for discounts, freebies, helpful parenting tips, a calendar of not-to-be-missed annual events and a comprehensive listing of businesses serving families like yours. The Moms Guide to San Diego is an annual printed pamphlet, which is something of a cross between an entertainment book, parenting magazine and business directory.

Winner – 2010 MIBU My Man of the Year Award

The MIBU Conference understands that many mom and women business owners would not exist without the support of their partners. To honor these extraordinary individuals, MIBU created the My Man of the Year Award, asking women to nominate the one man in their life who truly makes a difference through inspiration, support and a proactive willingness to be her equal partner. Gord Wildman was the recipient of this award in 2010 for his unwavering support of his wife, Rae Majors-Wildman in all of her business endeavors.
